removing algae

my tank has green specs appearing on the glass that my floating magnet cleaner has trouble shifting. can I put a fish in to eat this? lots of people said I can, but the shop staff think it won't help. what do you say?

That algae can be stubborn. I use a razorblade scraper to get it off. I think certain small catfish (like ottos) might help, but nothing beats a sharp razor!
